What is NHL Puck’Em?

Puck’Em is a weekly, game-based fantasy mini-league. Each Monday 08:00 CT a new week opens. You pick up to five NHL games; your score is based on game action — goals, shots, hits, blocks, goalie saves, PP/SHG bonuses, and end-state bonuses like OT/SO/close game.

Weekly Flow

  1. Browse the week’s slate (Mon→Sun).
  2. Lock in up to 5 picks before puck drop.
  3. Track live totals and plays in the viewer.
  4. Leaderboard finalizes after the week’s last game.

Why game-based?

It’s quick to play and every matchup can score: not just goals, but all the “grit” stats too.

Tip: Picks lock individually at each game’s scheduled puck drop. You can still pick later games in the same week.

How to Play

1) Sign in

  • Create an account, set a display name.
  • Forgot password? Use the link in the header.

2) Make Picks

  • Open the NHL tab, hit Open on any game.
  • Click Add to my picks. A ✓ “Picked” tag confirms it.
  • Max 5 picks per week. Each pick locks at puck drop.

3) Track Live

The viewer shows fantasy totals, bonuses, and live plays (scoring & recent). We also push results into weekly & season tables.

Example: A 4–3 game decided in a shootout = Close (+4) + OT (+2) + SO (+2) = +8 bonus added to stat scoring.

Leaderboards

Weekly

  • Ranks players by the sum of their five picks for the current week.
  • Updates as games finish and totals finalize.
  • Ties share the same rank number.

Season points are awarded by your weekly finish:

Picks & Strategy

Picking Basics

  • Max 5 games per week.
  • Each pick locks at that game’s scheduled start time.
  • You can still add later games after earlier ones lock.

What Scores Well?

  • High-event matchups: shots, hits, and blocks stack fast.
  • Tight games with OT/SO potential (bonuses stack).
  • Special teams impact: PP efficiency and SHG threats.

Badges

Badges celebrate weekly finishes and streaks. They unlock automatically when results post. Here’s what they mean:

First Star of the Week
Finish 1st on the weekly board.
Second Star
Finish 2nd weekly.
Third Star
Finish 3rd weekly.
Solid Ten
Finish Top 10 weekly.
Consistent Contributor
Finish Top 10 in at least half of season weeks played.
Heater
Finish Top 5 in 3 consecutive weeks.
Iron Streak
Finish Top 10 in 5 consecutive weeks.
Hot Line
Finish Top 5 in 5 consecutive weeks.
Cold Shift
Miss the Top 10 for 3 straight weeks.
Sniper
One of your picks is the #1 scoring game of the week.
Hatty Picks
3 of your picks finish in the Top 5 that week.
Clean Sweep
All 5 of your picks finish in the week’s Top 10.
Shutout
All picks below weekly average yet you still finish Top 10 overall.
Overtime Winner
Pick at least one game that goes to OT.
President’s Trophy
Finish the season 1st overall in season points.
Playoff Bound
Finish season in the Top 10 of season points.
Power Play
Finish Top 3 in four of five consecutive weeks.
Icebreaker
Make your first pick ever.
Call-Up
First time finishing Top 10 weekly.
Hot Prospect
First time finishing Top 3 weekly.
Badges are awarded automatically when the weekly table locks and season standings update.

Frequently Asked Questions

When does the week start?
Every Monday at 08:00 CT. That anchors the Monday→Sunday window.
Why did a goal not show in Scoring Plays?
We filter “no goal / goalie stopped / disallowed” messages and backfill from play-by-play when needed.
Are live totals final?
Totals finalize shortly after games end. If official stats are corrected, we reflect that on refresh.

Troubleshooting

“No data yet” in Scoring Plays
Give it a refresh cycle; we also fall back to play-by-play. If a finished game still shows nothing, hard reload.

We anchor weeks in Central Time; your browser’s locale can change how timestamps display.
